Online Worship

We’re going online for worship.  Check us out each Sunday!

Worship – Sunday, January 30, 2022 (Manchester University ROBOT leads our worship)

Our worship service is presented by Manchester University ROBOT (Radically Obedient Brethren Outreach Team). They are a group of students who plan, write, and carry out a worship service to travel to various churches and share with them. Our own Connor Ladd was one of the team members when this service was filmed in 2021!

The video of the service is 30:39 minutes long. It is an unlisted video on YouTube (link below). The only people who can see it are those who have the link. In agreeing to host ROBOT for our worship service, we have also agreed to only share this link with our church.  Manchester University asks for you not to distribute this link widely, ie: NO posting on social media or forwarding the email to folks outside of our congregations’ regular attendance. This is because many churches have “booked” the team and if this video shows up on someone’s social media and someone from another church sees it then that church may no longer want to use it.

As you watch this service you’ll be reminded of some of the people who make up the Columbia City Church of the Brethren during an almost 5 minute video showing just some of the ways our congregation has been active in the work of Christ and growing the past almost 60 years.  Overall, this 36 minute worship includes Pastor Dennis’ sermon entitled “The Family of God” as well as  multiple hymns and songs from past worship services at the Columbia City Church of the Brethren.  Feel free to sing along!  If you’re already connected to our congregation, this worship will remind you some of the great things about our church – our people & ministry.  If you’re not connected to our church, we’d love you to connect with us.  Visit our website, call the pastor, view other services online, and let us know how we can continue to connect with you.

Worship – Sunday, September 6, 2020 (Speaker – Pastor Dennis Beckner)

What is the greatest commandment?  To love our neighbor as ourselves.  So when we read in Romans 13:10 that “love does no harm” (NIV), we are reminded that we should use love as our first tactic in life.  Love debt is the only debt we should be in according to the Apostle Paul.  Pastor Dennis’ message comes from an unique setting and is based on this message of loving others in the time we have left on earth.  Overall, this 37 minute worship includes five hymns and songs including a focal song for Pastor Dennis’ message, “Hold Us Together” by Matt Meyer.  Hymns were sung by the Columbia City Church of the Brethren on March 17, 2019.  Let’s get loving others before it’s too late!

Worship – Sunday, August 9, 2020 (Manchester University ROBOT leads our worship)

Sunday’s worship service is presented by Manchester University ROBOT (Radically Obedient Brethren Outreach Team). They are a group of students who plan, write, and carry out a worship service to travel to various churches and share with them. Our own Connor Ladd is one of the team members!  Due to the changes COVID-19 brought to the University and the churches this past spring, the team put together a virtual service that they are sharing with us rather than traveling to congregations.

The video of the service is 33:36 minutes long.

Worship – Sunday, March 29, 2020 (Worship Leader – Gus Stender; Speaker – Pastor Dennis Beckner)

This is the fourth part of a Lenten series, “Enter the Passion of Jesus” based on the book by the same name.  During this 22 minute worship, you’ll enter the story of Jesus during Holy Week.  Jesus is anointed with expensive oil while sitting at a table for dinner as depicted in Mark 14:3-9. Gus will portray one of the characters as you view artwork depicting the scene.  We’ve added a hymn to this Sunday’s worship.  Feel free to sing along or just listen.  We’ve also taken the suggestions of several individuals this past week and included the words to scripture on the screen for you to more easily follow along.  We also don’t want to leave out our children, so this week there will also be a separate children’s story video led by Stephanie Bradbury (recorded by Sherri Sims).  Please check out both the worship video and children’s story videos in whichever order you’d like. [Worship leader segments were recorded prior to the stay-at-home order.]

Worship – Sunday, March 22, 2020 (Worship Leader – Austin Heiden, intern; Speaker – Pastor Dennis Beckner)

This is the third part of a Lenten series, “Enter the Passion of Jesus” based on the book by the same name.  During this 19 minute worship, you’ll enter the story of Jesus with some leaders at the temple as depicted in Matthew 22:15-22.  Austin will portray one of the characters as you view artwork depicting this scene.  This is our first attempt at recording worship on video due to not being able to worship in person with the Coronavirus.  We hope you find your place in the story as you worship with us.  Thanks for joining us!
